Cover Article: 2009 Train Mountain Triennial was a
great success despite the tragic loss of its founder and the disastrous
economic crisis. It was the largest
live
steam event in the world since the last Triennial. The sense of
community and solidarity during the meet was inspiring.
Learn about the successful creation of the Yuma Territory Live Steamers club in
Arizona. In two short years the group has incorporated, received
non-profit status from the IRS, raised funds for insurance, purchased
rail and equipment, and given rides to the public on portable track.
They are currently starting to lay permanent track, after successful
negotiation with the cit of Yuma for use of Riverside Park.
Then we learn of the success story of a vendor who
has improved the look of a lot of models from all over. Connie Miracle
is the owner of Miracle Railroad
Products. What began as a one-time request from her husband has
turned into a thriving enterprise.
Our friend Colin
Fleetney returns with another poignant reminiscence. His flowing
prose paints the portrait of a
youngster in the late 1940’s. He makes a very successful run with a
coal fired steamer on a cold day in January.
We also have the anticipation of a success story as
we learn about the proposed Utica
Chenango and Susquehanna Valley narrow gauge railroad in upstate New
York. A couple of local entrepreneurs purchased miles of old
Lackawana right-of-way. We think you’ll enjoy learning the history of
